We know what we're having!

We're having a girl. 95% sure. Lydia keeps crowing it over us, since she's always predicted we were having another girl. In the car on the way home from the Doctor's, Lydia "called" on her princess pretend cell phone lots of extended family members, who all confirmed to her that yes, just like Lydia knew, we are having a girl. I'm not as excited. Sure, I love girls, but I have to admit I was hoping for a boy this time. We even had a name all picked out. But....three little girls will be awfully cute all together. And girl clothing is cuter - plus we already own a ton of girl clothes. And then they can all share a room, and the decor will all match and look nice. And she won't spray pee on me. (hey, I'm trying to make myself feel better, here.)

Meanwhile, Elisheva is having one of the neediest days of her life. She's currently curled up in my lap, crying, for no apparent reason. I hope she won't struggle with being a middle child.

  3. She doesn't have to be a middle child for long, you know. :) And you can do what they seem to do in Poland: give your girl the boy name as her middle name. WEIRD. Evie has a friend who has a boy middle name (even more obvious in Poland where every boy name ends in a consonant and every girl name ends in an A). There is also a politician who's name is John Mary Rokita (Jan Maria).

Congratulations! They WILL be darling together, those three!

  4. I was guessing that you'd have a boy, too. But as someone who knows, being "firehosed" is no fun at all.

What girl names are you thinking of this time around? I think an Aurelia would fit into your family quite nicely. I've always loved that name but I don't think I will ever get my husband to agree to use it in our family.

  5. They said it that Hans was supposed to be a girl and gave us a 90% accuracy and it still came out a boy. Tell Avi that there is still hope. Though a third girl would be cute.

  6. Congratulations! That's exciting that you found out what you're having. I'm also sort of hoping for something different this time, but I suspect we'll have three boys. I think I'd be really surprised if it were a girl.
Peter's been really grumpy lately too. I think it's molars.

  7. Funny you mention the name Aurelia, Beth. That's Lydia's middle name. And when I was pregnant with Elisheva, I desparately wanted to name her Aurelia, but Avram couldn't get past that it was already in Lydia's name. So, no Aurelia. And no future Aurelias either, although I do love the name.

Three girls will be cute, for sure. And then I can still call them, "My girls" instead of having to differentiate.

Travis, I do think of you, since Hans was 90% a girl. So it's not over 'till it's over.

  8. Hooray for another little Shannon girl! I grew up in a family of six girls and one boy. We love, love, love our brother; but, man. We sure have a lot of fun with all of us sisters. You'll love it, I'm sure.
